What the heck is a
fishhead? Yer lookin’ at ‘em!! The Fishheads are a
regionally-touring entertainment extravaganza!!! Sixteen years ago, five
Omaha-based musicians launched an experiment unlike anything the world had
ever seen. Billing themselves as “The Island Party Alternative Band,” The Fishheads breathed new life into the Midwestern entertainment scene with
their unique blend of music, comedy and mayhem, and the party keeps
getting bigger!! Each year finds the group busier, playing more shows for
more people in an ever-expanding area. What’s at the heart of their
success story? “The focus is on the fun,” says guitarist Steve Eisenberg.
“People naturally want to cut loose and have a good time, and that’s
something we do better than anyone else out there.” This is easy to see
whenever the group starts playing their “Fishhead-ized” versions of
reggae, ska, modern rock and oldies tunes. Whether it’s a corporate
affair, outdoor festival or a riverboat cruise, the party atmosphere the
Fishheads create at each and every show pulls the whole audience into the
fun, leaving them wanting more at the end of the
night. Where’d you guys get the
bus? Hey, like we said, it keeps getting bigger. The
Fishheads’ tour bus ventures far beyond the Omaha/Lincoln area, traveling
to various Midwestern resorts, clubs, auditoriums, universities, and
corporations. The “Island Party on Wheels” is still rolling through
Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota, Minnesota and
Missouri, making particularly frequent stops at Okoboji and Lake of the
Ozarks. Does this mean they have a limited touring range? Certainly not!!
The Fishheads will travel halfway around the world if necessary, and did
so in 1993, when the U.S. Department of Defense sent them to perform for
our troops in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates (Operation
Desert Party). “That was eight years ago,” reminisces lead singer R.J.
Hadley, “and people still come up and say, ‘I remember when you guys came
over and played for us. It was great! You made my tour of
duty!” You guys got any
CDs? Yep. No strangers to recording, the Fishheads
launched their first album, LIVE AND UNCENSORED, in 1993, featuring the instant and bizarre classics,
"Al's Truck Stop" and "Deer Camp.” Three years later, in a fit of good
cheer, the Fishheads released their second recording, ISLAND HOLIDAY. This non-traditional island take on traditional
non-island holiday songs has become a holiday island tradition, showcasing
the Fishheads' flair for originality (and wordplay). In May of 1999, their
latest CD,
ESCAPE TO
REALITY hit the streets,
generating radio airtime with the still-much-requested single, "Bicycle
Seat." Plans for
LIVE AND
UNCENSORED II are already
underway. (See our “Discography” page for sound
files!) Spontaneity on stage makes every Fishheads show
a unique party experience, appealing to any type of crowd. That’s why the
Fishheads are the Midwest’s #1 party band!! 402-393-7772 info@fishheads.com (Call for dates and availability!!)
